October Meeting Minutes
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Aram Susong, Pam St. John, Laura Hand, Sharon Samec, Ron Garris, Bob Hoppes, Merriam Lake, Ruth Beck, Bill Winder, Timi Brown, Bob Delveau, Brad Condon, Velda Phillips
President Aram Susong called the meeting to order.
Minutes and Treasurer’s Report from the September 11, 2007 meeting were approved (motion by Sharon Samec and seconded by Laura Hand for the minutes and Velda Phillips and Sharon Samec for the treasurer’s report). Marketing/Website: Web site traffic steady. Need news from members to post on the site. There was a discussion regarding placing another ad in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Visitor’s Guide for next year. A ˝ page ad will cost $1,600 and a smaller ad would cost $400. There was a motion made by Pam St. John to go forward with the smaller ad, Bob D seconded it and the motion carried. The new Kimball Ridge brochures are here and were distributed to the attending Board Members.
Membership: several new neighborhood businesses will be called on with an invitation to join KRA: Snap Fitness; Thompson Shoes; Cedar Valley Cancer Center; Edward Jones Investment Firm.
Community/ Social Events: The KRA Christmas party plans are underway; Sharon asked for volunteers and the committee members are: Lisa Wall; Pam St. John; Laura Hand; Brad Condon; Aram Susong; Sharon Samec; Pam Ayes and Dianne Gearhart. The event will be December 6th from 5:00 – 7:00 at Bank Iowa on Kimball Ave. Old Business: President Susong asked the Board to thinking about nominations for new officers for next year. If you have a red jacket you may consider donating it to the Waterloo Community Playhouse Costume Shop, just bring it to a KRA Board meeting and Laura will deliver to the Playhouse.
New Business: KRA will participate in the My Waterloo Days 5K Run/Walk next summer and Bob Delveau will chair the event. Timi Brown reported that the Kimball Ridge area would be used for the Waterloo Arthritis Walk to be held in September 2008. There will be an opportunity to volunteer for this event.
