March 24, May 20, July 21, Sept 15, Nov 20

Fun Facts:
• 32,000 units of blood are used each day in the United States
• The Blood Center of Iowa services 49 hospitals in 44 Iowa counties
• 60% of the population is eligible to donate~yet only 5% do!

Donors must:
• Be in general good health
• Weigh at least 120 lbs.
• Eat a good meal prior to donation
• Be at least 16 years old with signed Blood Center consent form

As a college student, Jess was faced with news no 20 year old wants to hear. She was given a 60% chance of surviving leukemia. Her amazing story of survival and her will to live could not be told without the generosity of a bone marrow donor and the numerous blood donors who gave bloodunknowing that their act of kindness would help save the life of this young woman.
